Content variants

Content variants test a page or content change.

This can be a new section, a clearer explanation, a stronger source note, a comparison page, or an internal link change. The key is to know what changed before you read the result.

Content change under test

Write the content change in plain words.

Do not only say "improved page." Say what changed.

## Content variant

Page: /ai-visibility-tools
Change: added a section that explains prompt tracking and source evidence.
Expected result: AI answers explain CLEA with more detail for tool comparison questions.

Content variant

A content variant is the exact page or section change you want to compare later.

Narrow change

Change one page area when possible.

If you rewrite the whole site, an experiment cannot explain the result. If you add one proof section, the result is easier to inspect.

Change record

Record the changed page, date, and purpose.

If the page is managed through Sitemap and Page Writer, link the experiment notes back to that page file.

Later comparison

Later, compare prompt movement, source movement, competitor movement, and answer wording.

Do not expect a content change to move every metric at once.
