This keeps you from reacting only to the final ranking or wording.

Check what the AI answer actually says.

See whether your brand appears and how it is described.

Note repeated alternatives, not random names.

Review which pages or domains shaped the answer.

Mention evidence appears in prompt results and analytics. Source evidence appears in source-focused views and the saved prompt context.

Competitor evidence may appear wherever named alternatives are tracked.

Ask three questions. Was your brand mentioned? Who was named instead? Which sources shaped the answer?

If the same source or competitor repeats across prompts, it may deserve a suggestion card.

If the evidence is useful, keep the prompt and watch it over time. If the evidence is noisy, rewrite the prompt.

Do not archive a prompt just because the first answer is uncomfortable. Archive it when the question itself is bad.
