Internal links
Internal links connect sitemap pages to each other.
They help visitors move through related topics. They also help CLEA understand which pages belong together. In sitemap work, internal links should come from real topic relationships, not from random keyword matching.
Plan links before the page is final
Add link ideas while the page is still being planned.
This is easier than trying to add links at the end. When a page has clear related pages from the start, the body can mention those topics in a natural way.
Find the reader need
Ask what the visitor needs after this page.
Choose the target
Link to a page that answers or proves the next step.
Write natural context
Add the link where the topic is already being discussed.
Review the path
Make sure the target page really supports the link.
Use links to support the journey
Ask what the reader needs next.
If the current page explains a problem, link to the page that shows the solution. If the current page explains a feature, link to setup or proof. If the current page is a comparison, link to the main product page and a deeper guide.
| Current page type | Useful link target |
|---|---|
| Problem page | Product or guide page |
| Product page | Setup page or proof page |
| Guide page | Related guide or next step |
| Comparison page | Product page and source page |
Keep link notes in the markdown file
A simple link section is enough.
## Internal link ideas - Link to the analytics overview page when explaining prompt data. - Link to the sitemap page when explaining planned content. - Link to the workflow page when explaining repeated reviews.
