Rank shows where your brand sits among the brands named in AI answers.
Movement shows whether that rank changed during the selected period.
In the competitor dashboard, rank is built from answer mentions. It is not a search ranking. It is a visibility ranking inside your tracked prompt set.
Movement across prompt groups
Movement can come from one prompt group or many prompts. Do not assume the whole market changed.
Inspect the prompts that moved first.
Find the move
Identify which prompt or group changed.
Read the answer
Check whether the wording changed in a meaningful way.
Compare competitors
See who gained or lost space in the same answer.
Decide action
Watch noise, fix prompt quality, or create content work.
Comparison use
Use rank to compare yourself with the answer leader and nearby competitors.
Use movement to decide if the change is worth action.
If you move from rank 5 to rank 3, ask why. Maybe one prompt started naming you. Maybe a competitor stopped appearing. Maybe more prompt runs arrived.
